The All-pro and Two time Pro-Bowler New Orleans Saints’ Offensive Tackle Terron Armstead has recently announced a new partnership with Louisiana’s rising beverage company Hydra-Guard Sports Drink. The company that counts stars such as Denver Nuggets’ Paul Millsap, Minnesota Vikings’ Alexander Mattison and Dallas Cowboys’ Cedrick Wilson among its top athletes, now welcomes Saints’ offensive team captain to its powerful roster of hydration.
The Cahokia, IL native attended Cahokia High School, where he was a letterman in both football and track & field. His Junior year in highschool was very essential in his development as a player, as he grew from a 6’2, 250lbs offensive lineman to a 6’4, 300lbs senior, helping to lead the Comanches to an 11-2 record and league title. Armstead then enrolled in the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he played for the UAPB Golden Lions football team from 2009 to 2012. All of his hard work led him to earn the titles of All-SWAC selection during his final three seasons at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
In 2013, during the NFL Combine, Armstead ran a remarkably fast 4.71 second 40-yard dash, which is the fastest 40 yard dash time of any offensive lineman at the combine since it first began in 1982. Armstead was later selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round as the 75th overall pick of the NFL Draft for that year. That made him the highest draft pick ever out of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. On May 3, 2016, Armstead and the Saints agreed to a five-year, $65 million contract extension. The contract is guaranteed for $38 million and includes an $11 million signing bonus.
Terron is also the founder of the Terron Armstead Foundation, with a mission and focus on empowering youth to improve life skills of sportsmanship, character, and teamwork. “One of the best things about playing in the National Football League is that it has given me the ability and opportunity to be a role model to young people and to give back to the community,” says Armstead. The New Orleans Saints' Offensive Tackle recently purchased and renovated a 40,000-square foot building in his hometown Cahokia, Illinois, and is a few months from opening its state-of-the-art building for a multi-use community center for the town's residents. He envisions the space as a place where kids can come to develop life skills, and provide the community with the necessary tools and resources that gives them the guidance they need for a better future.
Armstead has steadily been involved in giving back and co-sponsored annual school supplies giveaways, organized Thanksgiving dinner giveaway events at Dryades YMCA and hosted over 200 New Orleans youths at Ochsner Sports Performance Center through his foundation. Beyond sports, Armstead also encourages youth to pursue collegiate academics after high school. A dream of his has been to making the life better for others, and that has been proven to be true as his foundation has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to high school student-athletes.
In June of 2020, Armstead joined the Hydra-Guard Sports Drink Ambassador Team, as the brand further expands its footprint in the sports drink industry. “Armstead is a phenomenal athlete and even better person. Watching what he has done on and off the field over the years has been extraordinary for the community, the youth, and Who Dat Nation. We are honored to have Terron a part of the Hydra-Guard team and be his chosen beverage for proper hydration” says Joseph Tucker, Founder of Hydra-Guard Sports Drink.
“I’m proud to partner with Hydra-Guard Sports Drink. Hydra-Guard has no artificial anything and low calories, helping me to recover properly after my workouts and continue a healthy lifestyle. Hydra-Guard and it’s premium hydration is about to take over and I am proud to be a part of that,” says Terron.
